Vocational Services:
Employability Assessments – The purpose of an employability assessment is to identify jobs that would be available to the individual based upon his/her age, educational background, work experience, transferable skills, demonstrated or tested aptitudes, interests and physical/cognitive limitations (if applicable) in a given labor market area. The opinions/recommendations that are ultimately provided include the types of jobs, wages and benefits that would be available to that individual in his/her labor market area, as well as any training options that would enhance their marketability and earnings potential.
Expert Testimony - Our staff has the education, experience and professionalism to provide expert testimony pertaining to employment and earning capacity issues in Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury, Social Security Disability, Long Term Disability, Divorce, Wrongful Termination and ADA cases. All Consultants are certified by the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court as Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Job Placement Specialists. Karen Stricklett is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Case Manager and Diplomate of the American Board of Vocational Experts. Dave Utley is a Fellow of the American Board of Vocational Experts.
Job Analysis and Modification – What are the physical requirements of your company’s jobs? What are the essential functions that must be performed? How could these jobs be changed to accommodate temporary or permanent restrictions for your employees or new job applicants? Are your job descriptions ADA compliant? If you need answers to these questions, let our expert staff guide you in addressing these and other work site issues.
Job Placement – Finding the right job is a fulltime job and can be particularly challenging for an individual with a physical or mental disability. Our staff of qualified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Job Placement Specialists can assist by locating appropriate job openings, educating employers about disabilities and regulations that affect hiring decisions, and training job seekers in completing applications, developing resumes, interviewing and tapping into the “hidden job market”.
Labor Market Research – Whether we are asked to survey a rural community or a larger metropolitan area, our staff has the expertise and resources to obtain specific information about the wages, qualifications, skills needed and employment outlook for any job in which you, or your client, has an interest. This information is gathered by using a variety of resources, including local, state and federal employment publications, the internet, public and private employment agencies and contact with employers in that labor market area.
Loss of Earning Capacity Evaluations – Assessing loss of earning capacity consists of developing an individual’s vocational profile, establishing his/her pre-impairment earning capacity and then determining to what extent the onset of a permanent medical condition has altered that individual’s vocational potential and associated earning capacity. These evaluations are useful in any case where an individual’s vocational options have been reduced, but are most commonly requested in cases where an accident or injury has resulted in permanent impairment and restrictions.
Social Security Disability Evaluations – How do you determine if someone is a good candidate for Social Security Disability benefits? Our staff is familiar with Social Security guidelines as they pertain to disability and can help you evaluate the relevant medical and vocational issues in the case. If the individual appears to qualify for benefits, we can prepare a detailed written report and/or appear in Court on behalf of the Plaintiff. Two of our staff members have served as Vocational Experts for the Social Security Administration in the past and are experienced in assessing employability issues.
Vocational Case Management – This service involves the management and coordination of services to successfully achieve the rehabilitation goal. When serving in the role of a Case Manager, our Rehabilitation Consultants become the problem solvers by coordinating services and resources and facilitating communication between the client, family, treatment team, employer and insurance carrier. Cases in which this service can be of benefit to all parties include Workers’ Compensation and Long-Term Disability files.
