Amanda Ruhland, M.A., C.R.C., has noted an increasing number of referrals of LTD cases for transferable skills analyses, labor market surveys and job placement assistance. In some instances, she is also conducting home visits to provide insight into a person’s living situation and independent living needs. Dave Utley, MA, ABVE, has been involved in a number of these cases over the past 13 years. The issues usually involve determining the earning capacity of one of the parties to assist the judge to set alimony and child support levels. In some instances this activity involves reviewing the educational background and work history of the party and conducting research to determine employability within the labor market. Attention is given to qualifications and transferable skills as well as research wage projections and current job openings.
